Austrian Church

Austrian Church.

The church had existed here from the 14th century, in the years from 1500 to 1510 the small church was enlarged, before being destroyed by fire between 1580 to 1590. The green tower on the Mayrhofen church, whose colour symbolises its belonging to the Diocese of Salzburg, is the oldest part that remains. The inside of the church is elaborately decorated, as are most of the churches in Austria.

Bay of Naples

Sorrento sit atop cliffs directly across the bay from Naples. Although only a ninety minute ride away on the Circumvesuviana train route circling the bay. Sorrento is a world apart from Naples hustle and bustle. The town's centre of cobbled streets stretches for a kilometer westwards and half a kilometer northwards from Piazza Tasso with its ring of terrace cafes.
The above image was taken from the terrace of the Grand Hotel Ambasciatori overlooking the bay at twilight.

Valletta.

This image was captured while on holiday in the Maltese capitol of Valletta.

The fortified town was built after the Great Siege of Malta by the Ottoman Turks in 1565.
The fortifications were started by Grand Master Jean Parisot de la Valette in 1566 and completed three years later shortly before the building of the city itself.

During the Second World War German and Italian force's were unsuccessful in their attempt to starve the island into submission.
