Grassmere

PANO WEEK

Today's panorama was taken at Grassmere.

Grasmere is in the heart of the Lake District National Park in Cumbria, England. Within easy reach are the towns of Ambleside, Keswick, Hawkshead, Coniston, Bowness and Windermere.

Grasmere was once the home of the famous poet William Wordsworth; today you can visit two of his former homes - Dove Cottage and Rydal Mount. Also in the centre of Grasmere is St. Oswalds Church, the churchyard of which contains the Wordsworth family graves.

South Uist

PANO

Following on from the last couple of weeks where there has been a theme to the photos, I thought that this week would be panoramas.

The above was five photos that were taken on the island of South Uist, Scotland. These images were merged together using Photoshop CS3.

The camera was set to manual and the setting were as follows

Storm Comming

SECRET SCOTLAND

As promised the answer to why the beaches are deserted.

They are lovely to look at. Beautiful to stroll along. Paceful to sit on, and all you can hear is the waves lapping on the shore.

Why are they empty ?
The weather can change frequently during the day, and often does.
The air temperature is usually in the mid to high teens, 20c plus is verging on a heatwave.
Lastly the sea temperature, although it originated in the Gulf of Mexico, has somewhat cooled to around 10 to 15c.

All these points raised, personally I still find that I am drawn here and would hate to see these islands invaded with tourists.
